Almost immediately we began by having trouble
with the mics. We had switched out one of the mics to
a better mic (so we thought) - only problem, it wouldn’t
stay plugged in! So our main puppet in the beginning
would cut in and out.
Next, we had a plethora of stragglers coming in and
out (like our defective mic), slamming the door and
flooding the room with light. No distraction there...
right? Also, Director Davies, who was the voice of God
for the performance, would have people trying to
sneak past him while he held a live mic. Enough
trouble you say? Oh nooooo!!! Nay say I! There was
plenty more coming.
Soon thereafter it was noted that there were people
peeking in the back doors, holdings trays and such
and looking anxious. Director was confused as to why
they would be there and why they insisted on opening
and closing the double-doors in back. He hoped they
would have the courtesy to wait until we were through
for whatever they were up to. After all, we were half
way through the performance.
Director Davies again sneaked around the corner
to do the voice of God when our children’s ministry
leader Wayne parked himself in front of the director.
Needless to say, Director was already frustrated and
in no mood to be interrupted in the middle of his lines,
so he attempted to shoo Wayne away.
Wayne would not be moved however and gently
informed the Director that the church had failed to
reserve the room for our performance and that the
people in the back were here to set up for an
event.
Deflated and frustrated, Director Davies
informed the children that the performance was
over and apologized for the interruption. God in His
grace has allowed us to film the first performance
for those who were interrupted in the second one.
And for those of you who are interested, it is here
for you as well.
We are putting policies in place to make sure we
never have “scriptus interruptus” again and we ask
the forgiveness of those who were affected.
But... It makes for a good story... No?

(Updated - 6/30/11)
Very Soon, Ripples will
begin producing videos of
some of the best scripts.
We will be doing them with
all puppets, sound effects
etc.!
We will be making these
available as a free resource for parents and
teachers and to share our faith with the world.
We expect to begin production with the next month
or so! We will keep you updated.
Let us know if there is a favourite script you would
like to see produced and we will add it to our list.
We are gearing up now for production, so if you
attend the Brook, have an interest in puppets,
video or props, please contact us and Director
Davies will get back to you and let you know when
we will begin production. But hurry! We are
planning on starting soon.
It is our hope that these videos will reach children
all over the world.
Wouldn’t that be a blessing?
