Hebrews 10:24
Calvary The Brook - Grand Terrace California
(6/13/2011) An old friend of Ripples, Airika, has agreed
to come on board and help us out for
the summer. Heather will soon be
giving birth to little Evangeline and
will need to take a break for the
summer.
Airika has graciously offered to help
out this summer so that we will not
miss a beat and the shows will
continue for the kids.
She is taking the summer off from performing her own
music to help us and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
She is very talented and we know the children will be
blessed as she puppeteers for us over the summer
months. Stop on by and say hello and you will be
blessed as well.
Ripples is growing.
Well, in a manner of
speaking. Director and
Mrs. Davies added a new
potential, future puppeteer.
On July 9th. Kai, A healthy
9 pound baby boy was
born to Director Davies’
oldest daughter.
This means that Ripples will not be performing this
month as Director Davies will be visiting his new
grandson on that weekend. We apologize to all of
our little puppet fans for the missed show but we
promise to return in September with another
awesome truth from the Word of God.
Ripples
was invited to
share puppets
with the
children of the
community at
Grand Terrace
Days. It was
our pleasure
to say yes. So, on Saturday July 26th 2011, we
pulled up our trailer in the park and set up the one-
man stage, prepared to enlighten and entertain.
The day was picture-perfect, warm and sunny at
Richard Rollins Park in Grand Terrace. Soon
children were pouring in and getting their faces
painted and enjoying the games and fun in the
“Kids Zone” tent. Along with our puppet show, the
kids played games, won prizes and even got free
bike helmets.
The committee which invited Ripples to join in the
community event, placed no limitations on what we
could do except to say that we were to keep our
performances from 10 to 15 minutes in length.
Director Davies had no idea what he was going to
do, but after a little prayer and some thought, it
was decided that we would use “Where’s Me
Treasure?”, a skit we did a couple of years ago
for the children of the Brook. It shares the story of
Captain Blueberry Beard returning to claim his
buried treasure and go into retirement - only to
find that thieves have stolen his gold and jewels,
rust has ruined his thingamabob and moths have
destroyed a treasured shirt. The Captain
ultimately learned that we are to store our
treasures in Heaven - a great message indeed.
Interestingly enough, the theme for the Kids Zone
was pirates - amazing that Director Davies would
have chosen a pirate sketch. Maybe God had a
plan eh?
We had a great turnout for the event and we even
gave every child that watched the skit a million
dollar bill! (It was a Christian tract of course - but
the children didn’t seem to mind.) Smiles were in
large supply as well.
We did four performances, 10:15, 11:15 etc. and
played to eager children and their parents. All-in-
all, they seemed to enjoy the performances.
A special thanks to all of you who attended the
event and made it such a success for all
involved. We are grateful for your support.
We have not yet posted any video from the
performance since the tent was very noisy and
this makes the audio very difficult to hear. If we
are able to clean it up, it will be posted later.
Ripples can’t wait for the next Grand Terrace
Days! If you didn’t make it this time, then perhaps
you can join us at the church, or the next show.
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works”,
